My name is Emi. This is a space for me to chart my encounters with the many beings, seen and unseen.
Among these beings are eels, hooved mammals, orcas, frogs, birds of prey, and the spirits. The spirits, especially. These need room to take clearer form and voice.
I made this online platform because I want to more encounters with you, too. Different sorts of encounters. By sharing, I am searching for fresh forms of together.
In my creative work, I seek to reimagine spiritual practice and community to meet the needs of the modern day.
Most of this is experiential in nature, such as my work with environmental ceremony and eel pilgrimage.
Another favored medium is fiber art, which allows me to connect with the textures and tones of the natural world.
Writing, though, is the foundation of it all. Without it, none of these would exist.
I hold a Master of Theological Studies from Harvard Divinity School, where I studied human relationships with nature.
Since graduating, most of my work has been with eel conservation. My experience with eels and the people working with them has transformed my world.
